About Prostate Cancer Theranostics
Many prostate cancer cells carry PSMA on their surface. A PSMA PET-CT shows where it is present, and a PSMA-targeted therapy carries a radioactive element to the same cells. Using the same target to image and treat is the idea behind theranostics.

A PSMA PET-CT helps show whether disease carries the target and whether PSMA-targeted therapy may be suitable.
¹⁷⁷Lu-PSMA is a beta-emitting therapy, and ²²⁵Ac-PSMA is an alpha-emitting therapy. Which, if either, is appropriate depends on your situation.
Availability of each therapy depends on eligibility and applicable approvals, and is decided together with your oncology team.
